Three local or state organizations that I am interested in are the Southwest Ohio AEYC, Head Start group, and 4 C for Children. The SWOAEYC, is our local NAEYC chapter. I am on the conference committee for this organization and I love all the training and support that we offer to early childhood professionals in our area. The Head Start group, we do not have a name, but this is a group of coaches and teachers from three counties that get together to learn about best practices and how to handle challenging behaviors in the classroom. 4 C for Children offers training to child care centers and in home centers. They also offer CDA classes and support for get centers Step Up to Quality approved. They are an awesome resource and organization to be apart of.
Jobs that interest me are: owning and operating my own child care, being a Step Up to Quality licensing specialist, Being a trainer for 4 C for Children or other like organization, and/or working with families to help them become advocates for their children and families. For all of these jobs I would need experience teaching in the early childhood field, at least a bachelor's degree in early childhood or related field, and experience working with families. For the licensing specialist and the trainer I would need a Master's degree, and leadership experience, such as, director of a child care center. For the trainer I would also need education and experience in the area that I would be training in, such as, how to include children with disabilities.
Hello Kaleena!
ReplyDeleteI like that postal. It really makes sense. I have never heard of the 4C for children, but I have worked for Head Start here in North Carolina. I enjoyed working there. I too am planning to own my own childcare center. I want it the be a high-quality center that have children wellbeing on its mind. You have that passion that I had when I first pursuing my career. So, stay at it you will success
Hi Elizabeth. 4C for children is only in the Cincinnati/Dayton area of Ohio and works with center to become high quality. They do amazing work. Thank you for your feedback and kind words.
DeleteHello Kaleena,
ReplyDeleteWow, as an Ohioan myself I was unaware of this SWO AEYC organization. Thank you for sharing. But looking into it, I see now that these members dedicate time and energy toward the full potential of child learning and excellence. From Ohio to Texas, Rhode Islands to California sharing organizations spreads the word and the practice needed for early childhood and I am excited to see new faces, new names, and new empowering organizations to feed what is essential for children. Thank you again.

Hi Cassandra, What part of Ohio are you from? The SWOAEYC is one of the smallest of the Ohio AEYC groups, but we do our best to provide information and trainings for those in the ECE field from Cincinnati to Columbus. Thank you for your feedback.
DeleteHi Kaleena,
ReplyDeleteYou share some great resources in your area. I am intrigued by what you already doing to help other educators within the field or those are looking to join our field. Headstart is such a big topic, seems like everywhere! I know for us we have programs but not enough. Thanks for sharing all of your ideas!

I am from the Northeast part of Ohio but i have lived in Columbus for quite some time before moving to Texas which is huge! Working on my psychology degree I was exposed to a lot of facilities that worked with children which is why I moved toward child education. Thank you for reminding me of my roots and that no matter where something is being rewarded to children learning.
